Dear family & friends,
Here you can check out how life is on board of the Chaika. Although it's only a 12 meter sailing vessel- don't worry! She is a sturdy boat and we have GPS and satellite phone on board. If you like to reach us: please send a message in contact section

Monday december 20, 23.30, Jan reports:
Terra Firma!
At 19.50 hours exactly this evening the Chaika was moored in the Le Marin arina on the isle of Martinique, and we stepped off board for the first time in 15 days. As Bart had warned us: this has to be done with some care and deliberation. At sea, the human body gradually develops a different set of motoric reflexes, certain new muscles are trained, others are neglected, in short: anatomically we slowly change into a sea-mammal, much like the dolphin or the whale, and after such a period of time a sudden return to terra firma is not without risk of bodily harm. This was immediately demonstrated when our captain Derk stepped onto the pier and after a couple of rather comical stumbling steps, fell flat on his face.
